Dr. Akhilesh Pandey runs a lab at Mayo Clinic which is a Systems Biology lab that combines molecular biology, analytical chemistry and computational biology with various "Omics" technologies including genomics and proteomics to understand signaling pathways and to identify therapeutic targets and biomarkers in a number of cancers, diseases and genetic disorders.

Pandey Lab collaborated with Institute of Bioinformatics (IOB), Bangalore and have for the first time deciphered a near complete protein map of human. Results from this landmark study is featured on the cover of Nature

Cell Press journal Chemistry and Biology recently highlighted the research achievements of Institute of Bioinformatics in its 'Innovations' section. The article narrates the transformation of IOB from a small research center dedicated to biological databases into a multifaceted research institute ideally poised to carry out proteogenomic analyses of a large number of organisms which are relevant from a global as well as an Indian perspective.

Pandey Lab collaborates with Institute of Bioinformatics (IOB), Bangalore on various Proteomics and Bioinformatics projects. IOB has a state-of-the-art proteomics laboratory equipped with Fourier transform LTQ-Orbitrap Velos ETD mass spectrometer and manned by highly specialized scientists to carry out systems biology research.

Human Protein Reference Database: In collaboration with the Institute of Bioinformatics, our laboratory has developed the Human Protein Reference Database, a definitive repository of human proteins. This database currently contains over 20,000 human proteins. This database should serve as a ready reckoner for researchers in their quest for drug discovery, identification of disease markers and promote biomedical research in general.
