Junior Research Fellow Position
Institute of Bioinformatics (IOB) is an internationally renowned interdisciplinary research institution founded in 2002 by Akhilesh Pandey, M.D. Ph.D. in 2002. IOB is a Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) recognized research center. IOB has obtained several grants including Center of Excellence from key funding bodies including DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance (Center for Rare Disease Diagnosis, Research, and Training), DBT, DST and ICMR. IOB has a strong track-record in training interdisciplinary scientists through its Ph.D. program with 67 students who have graduated, many of whom are current postdoctoral fellows, staff or faculty in internationally renowned institutions. Over the last two decades, IOB has made seminal contributions in the fields of bioinformatics, multi-Omics, systems biology and its application to various basic and clinical research. The selected candidates will be enrolled for their Ph.D. at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal.
IOB is inviting applications for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a Project-based position. The selected candidate will be working on the CSIR-funded project titled "Multi-Omics Approach to Study Ion Channels Altered Pathways in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma".
Eligibility: Applicants must hold M.Sc./M.Tech in Bioinformatics/ Computer Science. Preference will be given to the candidates with good experience in programming languages (Python/Perl/R)
It is preferable, but not mandatory, that at the time of application, the candidates have cleared a national-level examination and procure a research fellowship (e.g. GATE/CSIR/UGC-NET, JRF exams conducted by DBT/ICMR). Candidates shortlisted for an interview will be informed by email.
The project duration is for a period of two years, but since it is expected that the successful applicant will enroll in a Ph.D. Program at MAHE, they will be paid until completion of their Ph.D.
Age: The upper age limit for a JRF position is 28. Candidates from reserved categories, such as SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and women, are given a relaxation of up to five years. Caste certificates should be enclosed along with the application.
